Roanoke Valley Garden Club
On Tuesday, October 18th Joyce Rice and Stacy Potter attended the
Horticulture Workshop in Richmond, VA. Well known professor and
author, Doug Tallamy of Bringing Nature Home gave an exellent
presentation on biodiversity and how we can make a difference. He
emphasized planting native plants, which has been a common theme
this past year. He highlighted a new term - Nature Deficit Disorder.
We not only need to plant or plant more, but plant native which
attracts insects and animals. This will restore a balanced ecosystem
that will sustain us together.
